Frequently asked questions

Manufacturing and product quality

How are your tinted window kits 'tailor-made'?

Our tinted window kits are made to measure as they are cut to the exact measurements of the vehicle's windows and then thermoformed onto the appropriate windows to give them the shape and curvature of the vehicle's windows. Whichever range of tinted films you choose, they all follow the same manufacturing process.

Are the pre-cut kits thermoformed to the shape of the windows?

All the films in our tinted window kits are thermoformed to make them easier to fit. The thermoforming of the film gives it the exact shape of the vehicle window.

Do you have window films for all vehicles?

Our database contains over 2500 models and we are constantly trying to expand it to meet all your needs.

My vehicle is not on the site, what should I do?

Our database contains the majority of European vehicles and is updated regularly.

If you cannot find your vehicle, please contact us by e-mail. We will do our best to find your vehicle.

Why do the films look crumpled?

The crumpled, "orange peel" appearance of the film is the result of thermoforming. Thermoforming heats the film so that it takes the shape of the glass. The heated film shrinks and takes on this crumpled appearance which will allow water to circulate between the film and the pane during installation. This simplifies the installation process. Once the film has been applied and dried, this appearance disappears.

Why does a solar film reflect heat?

Thanks to its thin metal layer, the solar energy is reflected immediately. This avoids the greenhouse effect.

What is thermoforming?

Thermoforming of automotive films is a technique that involves heating a film blank to soften it into the desired shape. Once cooled, the film retains the chosen shape.

How is thermoforming done?

From a film cut-out corresponding to the surface of the glass, the film is heated on the glass to a temperature of 500 degrees with a heat gun. The heating action allows the film to shrink. A Teflon scraper is passed over the film as it is heated so that it takes on the concave shape of the glass. This will make it easier to fit later.

What is the difference between thermoformable and thermoformed film?

The thermoforming films are sold in rolls or cut to size and must be thermoformed by you to fit the shape of the glass. The thermoformed films are prepared (heated on the glass) in our workshop. Thermoformed films are therefore more complicated to install because an additional step is necessary. For thermoformed films, the thermoforming is carried out in our workshop to make it much easier for you to fit tinted windows.

What is the difference between a roll of film and the tinted window kits Variance Auto ?

The difference between these two products is twofold:

  • The quality of the rolls of film is much lower than that of the films Variance Auto, whether they are sold in kit or cut to size. The films used by Variance Auto are of professional quality.
  • The 1st price film rolls are neither cut nor thermoformed (unlike the Premium and Essential kits Variance Auto). The customization of the kits Variance Auto greatly facilitates the installation.

What is the difference between an Essential kit Variance Auto and a Premium kit Variance Auto ?

Our Premium and Essential kits follow the same manufacturing process. They are cut to the dimensions of your windows and thermoformed to the shape of your vehicle. The difference lies mainly in the composition of the films and the additional services offered. The films of the Premium kits are more efficient and easier to handle. In addition, Premium kits usually come with a free installation pack and free delivery. The films in the Essential kits still offer effective protection and make it possible to buy at a low price.

All films are UV-treated, so they all protect against ultraviolet light.

What are the best-selling colours?

To protect you from the sun at the rear, we recommend the "Medium 25" tint as it allows 51% of solar energy to be rejected while maintaining good visibility. To protect you from the sun at the rear, we recommend the tints "Medium plus 15" and "Dark 5", as they allow 15% and 5% of light to pass through, respectively, while allowing the view from the inside to the outside. For the front windows, we recommend "Extreme Clear 85" tint as it complies with the new legislation and allows heat and UV rejection.
