Preparation:

  1. Choose a well-lit, well-ventilated work area.

Materials required:

  • Film from wrapping : Choose a quality wrapping film suitable for the surface you wish to dechromate.
  • Cutting tools: A cutter + a thermo
  • Squeegee: For smoothing the film on the surface of the car.
  • Light detergent: to clean the surface before applying the film.

Determining the areas to be dechromed :

Identify the parts of your car you wish to dechrome, such as door trim, window surrounds, bumper trim, etc.

Surface cleaning :

Clean the area thoroughly with a mild detergent to remove dirt, dust and wax residues. Make sure the surface is completely dry before proceeding.

Application of wrapping film:

  • Cut the wrapping film to the dimensions required to cover the area you wish to dechromate, leaving an extra margin around the edges.
  • Remove the backing film from wrapping to reveal the adhesive surface.
  • Gently apply the film to the area to be dechromed, taking care to avoid air bubbles. Use a squeegee to smooth the film and make it adhere firmly to the surface.

Cutting and fitting :

  • Use a precision cutter or scissors to carefully cut the wrapping film around the contours of the area to be dechromed.
  • Make sure the edges of the film fit snugly and adhere correctly to the surface.

Finishing and checking :

  • Run the squeegee over the entire surface one last time to eliminate any air bubbles and ensure uniform adhesion.
  • Check the dechromed area carefully to ensure that the film is well applied and that there are no creases or air bubbles.
