Tinted films can sometimes be overlooked because their application requires patience and attention to detail. Indeed, if you don't clean your windows perfectly before applying the film, dust may compromise the result and you'll end up with an average rendering with bubbles! But tinted film has many advantages, making it the preferred solution for motorists.

Slightly less expensive than plexiglass windows, tinted window kits will dress up your car windows, both front and rear, thanks to their many tints, including the extra-clear tint, approved for road use on front windows under French law.

This discreet solution goes unnoticed on your windows, allowing you to lower them as you please. With 99% UV protection, say goodbye to discoloration of your fabrics or dashboard! Tinted films also help protect your passenger compartment from sweltering summer heat.

Legislation: tinted front and rear windows are not prohibited

Since 2017, the entry into force of Article 27 of Decree no. 2016-448 of April 13, 2016 has framed the installation of tinted film on car windows. In fact, this recommends choosing a tinted film that allows at least 70% of visible light to pass through.

Tinted plexiglass windows

The benefits: Plexiglass tinted glass is appreciated for its ease of installation. Rigid, it slips into the corners of the glass, creating a heat- and UV-resistant tinted wall. Their biggest advantage is that they are unbreakable and can be bent without damage: handy for the clumsy!

However, Plexiglas windows can only be used on the rear window, as they are forbidden on the front! This is because you won't be able to roll down your windows once Plexiglas has been installed. This can become dangerous and even suffocating for people who like to open their windows and enjoy the air.

Plexiglass tinted glass also creates a considerable extra thickness and breaks the natural effect of the glazing, which may not be to your liking. By blocking only 90% of UV rays, they are also less effective than tinted film, for example. The limited choice of tints also makes this a very generalized product, leaving little room for originality and customization to suit individual needs.
