Choosing a solar film kit for your car
The tint of solar film for cars
There's a multitude of shades to choose from for a solar car film. All are shades of black. The first question you need to ask yourself is what shade to choose, and for what purpose you want to apply the film. Indeed, depending on the application, the shade will differ.
- Heat protection: during the summer months, the heat in the passenger compartment can quickly become unbearable. That's why installing solar film on your windows can be the ideal solution. A solar film, in this case of medium to dark tint, will protect your passenger compartment from the heat, but it will also enable you to drive comfortably. Your passengers will thank you too;
- Protection from prying eyes: whether in the course of your work or for your personal comfort, you could opt for a solar film to protect you from prying eyes. If this is the case, the preferred shade is dark black. You'll still be able to see perfectly well out of the car, but it will be more difficult to see people and objects in the car from the outside;
- UV protection: you know better than anyone! UV rays are harmful to your health and that of your loved ones. It causes a wide range of physical damage, from burns to skin cancer. The best way to protect yourself from UV rays is to install a dark sun protection film;
- Protection against vandalism: glass breakage can happen very quickly. If you want to anticipate the risk of vandalism, we offer a solar security film. This black film provides an extra layer of protection for your glass. In the event of a break-in, the film will slow down and limit the damage.

Our solar films for cars have many advantages, including regulatory compliance. This means they comply with Decree 2016-448 stipulating that:
- The vehicle's front windowsmust let in at least 70% of light:
- Rear windows must allow good visibility for all passengers and other road users. The tint can therefore be the darkest available.
Electrostatic or adhesive solar film for cars
At Variance Auto, you can choose between several legally compliant shades, as well as between two types of film: electrostatic solar film and adhesive solar film.
Electrostatic solar film is, as the name suggests, charged with static electricity. It contains no glue. As a result, it can be repositioned at any time and as many times as required. What's more, electrostatic tinted window kits are much easier to install.
Adhesive solar film, on the other hand, contains an adhesive, itself protected by a liner. As a result, its installation is more technical and requires a minimum level of expertise. What's more, unlike electrostatic solar film, it cannot be repositioned several times.
Whatever type of film you choose, there's one golden rule you must follow and not overlook. It's all about cleaning the surface on which the solar film is to be applied.
Thermoformed and pre-cut solar film for cars
There are two types of cut for a solar car film kit. The first is thermoformed solar film and the second is non-thermoformed.
Thermoforming is a technique whereby the solar film is heated on a glass template to match the make and model of your car. The aim of this technique is for the solar film to take the exact shape of the glass. As a result, the solar film is easier to fit, as it conforms to the shape of the glass. What's more, no bubbles or wrinkles will appear.
In addition to thermoforming, our solar films for cars are pre-cut according to the make and model of your car. This makes for easy installation.
In our workshop, we have over 89 vehicle models for pre-cut and thermoformed tinted window kits. Yours is bound to be there.
Now you know all about the criteria you need to take into account when choosing a solar film for your car. Don't hesitate to place your order.
