What is tinted car film?

Tinted film, also known as solar film, is a thin film applied to your car windows. It offers several advantages:

  • UV protection: reduces exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays, protecting your skin and the interior of your vehicle;
  • Heat reduction: by limiting excessive heat, it improves driving comfort and protects interior materials from discoloration and cracking;
  • Privacy and security : it protects against prying eyes and reinforces glazing, delayingbreak-in attempts.

Comparison between cut-to-size and custom-tinted film

Now that you know more about the main advantages of tinted film, let's get to the heart of the matter and see how our two types of tinted film compare: cut-to-size or made-to-measure tinted film.

Tinted film for cutting

Cut-to-size tinted film comes in rolls, which you cut and adjust yourself to the dimensions of your windows. This option is often preferred by professionals or experienced DIYers.

The advantages of our cut-to-size tinted film :

  • Flexibility: you can customize the shade and fit to suit your preferences;
  • Savings: cut-to-size film can be more affordable to buy, especially if you have several vehicles to equip.

The disadvantages of our die-cut tinted film :

  • Complexity of installation: requires cutting and installation skills to avoid imperfections;
  • Installation time: fitting and cutting require more time and precision.

Custom tinted film

Tinted film is pre-cut and thermoformed to the exact dimensions of your car's windows. This makes installation much easier, even for novices. At Variance Autowe offer ready-to-install kits, adapted to each vehicle, for simplified installation.

The advantages of our cut-to-size tinted film :

  • Easy to install: no need to measure or cut, the film adapts perfectly to your windows. Our kits are designed for easy installation, even for beginners;
  • Quality: our films are of professional quality, guaranteeing increased durability and resistance;

The installation method for the two films

Discover our installation methods based on our two films: our cut-to-size tinted film and our made-to-measure film.

Tinted film for cutting

  1. Measuring and cutting: measure the dimensions of your windows and cut the tinted film to size accordingly;
  2. Cleaning: clean the glass carefully to avoid impurities under the tinted film when cutting;
  3. Application: apply the tinted film to the cut-out, making sure to align the edges;
  4. Marouflage: remove air bubbles with a squeegee;
  5. Finishing: trim edges and allow to dry.

This method requires more precision and time, especially if you have no previous experience.

Custom-made film

  1. Cleaning: make sure the windows are clean and dust-free;
  2. Application: Remove the protective film and apply the tinted film to the glass, starting at the top;
  3. Marouflage: use a squeegee to eliminate air bubbles and ensure perfect adhesion. Roll from the center to the edge of the glass;
  4. Finishing: trim off any excess and leave your tinted film to dry for at least 48 hours before opening your window.
