Why Blog-Moteur called on us to install tinted windows
Tinted glass installation in collaboration with Blog-Moteur
On Monday, June 10, 2024, Michael, an automotive journalist, walked through the door of Variance Auto. The aim of this meeting was to introduce him to our company and our services, followed by the installation of a tinted window kit. Let's find out more about this collaboration.
Variance Auto and Blog-Motor collaboration
The idea of collaborating with journalists from the automotive world is not new to us. Variance Auto. That's why we invited Lyon-based Michael to come and discover our premises and products.
As mentioned above, Michael is a motoring journalist and founder of Blog-Moteur, anautomotive news medium. For us, as for him, our meeting was an obvious choice. So, on Monday June 10, 2024, we welcomed Michael to our offices, and here's how our afternoon went.
The interview
First of all, we wanted to introduce Michael to our company and its history. So, as soon as he arrived, we sat down to discuss Variance Auto in greater detail. In particular, we discussed the following topics:
- Thehistory of Variance Auto: Mr Labalme founded the company in 2006. The aim was to offer ready-to-apply self-adhesive car films, making the application accessible to everyone. Today, we offer all kinds of films, such as wrappingtinted windows, body protection and headlamp films;
- The added value of Variance Auto is linked to exclusive know-how in the preparation of kits by professionals in the field. As a result, we can guarantee a quality product that can be installed by anyone, thanks to the pre-cutting and thermoforming techniques used in our workshop;
- A wide range of products to suit more than 5,000 car sizes, with durability of up to 10 years for the Premium range.
Once this exchange was over, we slowly made our way to our workshops, where a tour took place. We then proceeded to apply his kit.
Choice of kit
In order to get a real feel for film kit installation Variance Auto, we suggested that Michael install a film kit on his car himself. In this way, he would have real installation experience, while being accompanied by our teams. Michael could choose from our four product categories:
- Films wrapping;
- Films from Paint protection film;
- Films for lighthouses;
- Tinted window film.
His choice fell on the fourth option, where he could select the tint most suited to his desires. What's more, at Variance Auto, our tinted window films are available in several ranges:
- The electrostatic range with the easiest installation;
- The security range to protect against heat and theft;
- The essential range that protects you from view;
- The premium range to combat heat in the passenger compartment.
As Michael has children of his own, he naturally chose the premium range. And with good reason, since he lives and works in Lyon, France, where the heatwave rears its ugly head every year. Tinted windows have many advantages, not least of which is that they are the best solution for keeping the heat out of the passenger compartment.
It's worth clarifying one important aspect of tinted windows. Current law does not prohibit theinstallation of tinted windows on a vehicle. However, it is regulated. Here's a summary of what's mentioned in Decree 2016-448:
- Front windows must let in at least 70% of visible light;
- Rear windows can be more tinted. However, they must allow sufficient visibility for other motorists.
Installing the tinted window kit
We met in our workshop with the founder of Variance Auto : Michel. Nothing better than the man who designed his products, to accompany Michael as he installs his tinted window kit on his BMW. On the menu: fitting tips, help with film installation and a moment of sharing.
During the application of his tinted window kit, Michael was able to carry out the following steps under Michel's watchful eye:
- Clean both sides of the glass with soapy water and a sponge, then dry with a clean cloth;
- Apply the film to the glass by spraying with soapy water;
- Squeegee the film to remove the soapy water;
- Finish the film application by wrapping a cloth around the squeegee. The aim of this step is to pass the squeegee over the film once more to expel the air. The film will adhere better to the glass.
It took Michael two hours to apply the film to his rear window and windows.
Installation instructions
Once the tinted window kit had been installed on his BMW, Michael was back on the road. What did he think of our collaboration? Find out in his article.
