Steps to follow for the removal of a wrapping car

When it comes to removing film from wrapping auto hoods, mirrors or bumpers, many people don't know where to start, or how to go about it. As far as you're concerned, the main aim of wrapping auto film removal is to keep your vehicle's bodywork intact. To this end, here are the steps not to be overlooked when removing a wrapping auto.

Vehicle preparation

Like the installation of a wrapping car, vehicle preparation is one of the steps not to be missed. We advise you to park your car in a quiet, traffic-free environment. What's more, it's preferable to be out of the cold, but also out of direct sunlight

Once this stage is underway, you can move on to the second.

Heating the wrapping

By heating the film on wrapping auto, you can avoid tedious removal of the film and/or adhesive residues. For this reason, using a heat gun will enable you to heat your wrapping auto consistently, and at the right temperature. The right temperature is around 65°C. To avoid overheating and thus burning your wrapping film, the correct movement is back and forth.

By the end of this stage, the wrapping film is more malleable and ready for total removal.

Removing the wrapping

For easy application, use a mini-grater and concentrate on one edge of wrapping at a time. The aim is to gently peel off the film from wrapping. Once you've pulled off enough film, you'll have a better grip, and you'll be able to pull the wrapping at around 45°.

45° is the right angle to allow you to heat the film from both sides: top and bottom. While heating the film, remove it with sufficiently strong pressure. The most important element in this step is to maintain the same force while heating and removing the film from wrapping auto. By doing so, you'll prevent the film from crumbling and falling to shreds.

Congratulations, you've just applied your wrapping film perfectly! Now that the hard part's over, all you have to do is clean your car.

Vehicle cleaning

This is your last step! If any adhesive residues or traces remain on your bodywork after applying the wrapping film, simply clean it. Nothing is more effective than anisopropyl alcohol solution. It cleans your body thoroughly without damaging it.

Depending on the quality of the wrapping film, its lifespan varies. At Variance Autoit's between 5 and 7 years. It depends on the vehicle'senvironment (weather, impacts, accidents), but also on its maintenance. For this reason, we do not recommend roller washing. These factors can damage the wrapping film, making it more difficult to remove. What's more, if your wrapping film has been installed for more than 10 years, there's a good chance that it will crumble during removal. In this case, we recommend that you call in a professional.
