Wrapping Airflow, air escape, honeycomb, bubble free... What are they?
Many names are used, but all the benefits are the same!
At Variance Auto, the type of glue varies according to the product.
Most of our wrapping 2D products have a "classic glue" finish.
The wrapping 3D range generally uses "honeycomb" glue, while wrapping 3M uses "air flow" glue.
Find out all the details in this guide!
Several glue names for wrapping, for the same use!
Visit wrappingwhether you're a beginner or an expert, the quality of the film is crucial to achieving a satisfactory result. But all too often, we tend to forget the type of glue used.
However, it's important to take the time to look at the other side of wrapping. The application and result of wrapping can change completely depending on the finish you choose!
- wrapping Airflow takes its name from the glue's "Airflow" technology, which evacuates air to the outside.
- The wrapping honey comb is so named because the shape of the channels resembles the honeycombs of beehives.
- The wrapping bubble free comes from the English word for "bubble-free".
In all cases, the names are different but the aim is the same: to make it easier to apply special bodywork adhesive film 😉
Micro-channels for easy application wrapping
The types of glue we call airflow, air escape, ni d'abeille, bubble free... all use more or less the same process. The aim is simple: to make installation and application easier, while considerably reducing the risk of bubbles.
Thanks to the micro-channels at the back of wrapping, air can easily escape. When you go to roll, instead of being trapped under the film, causing bubbles, the air will easily escape.
This does not prevent wrapping from adhering properly, because once the marouflage is complete, the glue adheres perfectly, crushing the micro-channels. Your finish will be smooth and impeccable!

More often than not, it's the top ranges such as 3D at Variance Auto or 3M, which have this type of adhesive.
The wrapping entry-level products have a simple smooth glue, which makes them more complicated to apply to the bodywork without creating bubbles, especially if you're a beginner!
