Successful installation of wrapping : Bodywork cleaning is essential!
Before installing wrapping for motorcycles or cars, it's very important to ensure that your bodywork has been properly cleaned.
Without this step, you risk problems before, during and after the application of your wrapping film!
- To start cleaning the bodywork, remove any parts that won't be covered or that could make installation too difficult.
You can use masking tape to protect hard-to-clean areas (such as grilles or wheel arches). This technique prevents dust and dirt from soiling the cleaned surfaces.
What's more, installing this tape will protect surfaces you don't want to cover with film from wrapping !

The 2 steps to perfect bodywork cleaning
- The first is to clean the surface to be covered with soap and water. This is the simplest and most effective solution for removing 90% of the dust!
The bodywork should always be cleaned from the bottom up: it's generally dirtier at the bottom than at the top.
- Then clean the surface with an isopropyl alcohol-based degreasing and stripping solution.
For bodywork cleaning, choose a soft, lint-free automotive cloth. It will absorb dust without leaving any residue on the vehicle.
Take particular care with highly angular surfaces or those with difficult curves and contours, such as bumpers, tailgates or door frames.
These more complicated surfaces require thorough cleaning to ensure that the wrapping film adheres properly.
It's also advisable to clean 3 to 5 cm around the area you wish to cover. This will prevent the wrapping film from attracting dust.
Preparing and cleaning the surface to be covered will greatly facilitate the installation of your wrapping film. It's the guarantee of a successful installation! 😉
