Detailed description

Tinted film for your car: a real improvement in comfort

Give your car a distinctive look with the wrapping matte gray film. Both discreet by its color and refined by its matte finish, this film of wrapping is perfect to equip the vehicle totally or partially.

Opt for a quality cladding that will last over time despite external aggressions. This wrapping, with a durability of 7 to 10 years, resists UV, humidity and chemicals.

Its high technical performance and conformability allow it to be used on smooth, curved or textured surfaces. To stretch it to your liking, the film must be heated slightly to regain its flexibility. In addition, its honeycomb adhesive structure allows for easier evacuation of bubbles.

With the solution of wrapping, you cover your bodywork in a temporary or permanent way. Indeed, the vinyl can be removed as soon as you wish and without leaving any residue on the paint.

Important note: choose between a wrapping 2D or 3D ?

As a reminder, this film from wrapping has a 3D finish, which means that it is thermoformable. It is therefore sensitive to heat (heat gun or hair dryer), it is recommended in the installation of wrapping on any type of surface, flat to very curved! It is thus privileged for a total wrapping but also on partial wrapping like mirrors for example. Any doubt? Do not hesitate to contact our team for more information!

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the difference between wrapping 2D and wrapping 3D when choosing my wrapping ?

wrapping 2D are suitable for flat or slightly curved surfaces. A good choice for making strips or stickers on a roof, for example.

wrapping 3D are ideal for larger surfaces and more complex curved areas. Thanks to their "cast PVC" composition, they are more easily thermoformed. A wise choice for a complete wrapping , or mirrors, for example.

For more information, see our article on wrapping 2D and 3D. 😉

  • How to install wrapping yourself?

The first few times can be a bit technical if you're not used to it. With patience, precision, the right equipment and by following the installation instructions carefully, you can get the hang of it. 💪

We advise you to start with "simple" parts like a hood or a roof, to get the hang of it. After that, the more you lay, the easier it gets! 👌

We've got plenty of tutorials to teach you how to lay it yourself. Discover our tips and tricks in this article.

  • How to wash a car with a wrapping ?

Parts covered with wrapping can be maintained in the same way as the rest of the vehicle. All you need to do is take care of the cut-outs and joints: we advise against washing with a roller to avoid delamination.

Also watch out for karchers at joints. Allow for sufficiently wide returns during installation, to avoid the risk of delamination during cleaning.

  • What's the best movie wrapping ?

It's the one that's right for you! For stickers or flat surfaces, a wrapping 2D is ideal. On the other hand, for a total wrapping or rear-view mirrors, installation will be easier with a wrapping 3D.

You can also treat yourself to a wrapping from Avery Dennison or 3M. In any case, at Variance Auto we only offer carefully selected, professional-quality products.

  • How much wrapping do I need to cover my vehicle completely?

The wrapping total calculator shows in just a few clicks the number of linear meters you need for the complete wrapping of your car.

If your car is not entered in the calculator :

    1. Measure the length of the car (from the bottom of the front bumper through the roof to the bottom of the rear bumper).
    2. Multiply this result by 3.

If you're not sure, please contact our sales advisors, who will be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible!

  • What's the difference between wrapping and paint?

wrapping is a great alternative to paint.

    • wrapping can be installed by yourself thanks to our installation tutorials.
    • The wrapping protects the original paintwork, keeping it in good condition.
    • The wrapping can be removed at any time
    • wrapping is less expensive

Good to know: The wrapping film will adapt to the surface. If there are bumps or pokes, the wrapping will conform to the shape. These imperfections will remain visible. What's more, if the original paintwork is damaged, the wrapping film can damage it on removal.

  • Is it possible to remove a wrapping ?

Yes, you can remove it at any time without leaving any marks on your vehicle's bodywork. The adhesive used is specially designed so that you can restore the original bodywork at any time.

Warning: wrapping will not damage paint on paint in good condition. But if you put a wrapping on paint that is starting to flake or become damaged, it can damage it.

  • Do you install tinted window kits?

Our tinted window kits are designed so you can install them yourself. That's why they're pre-cut and thermoformed to fit your vehicle model. So you don't have to go to a professional 😉

To discover our installation tutorials, go to this article!

  • Are tinted windows legal?

For front windows, there are regulations. For rear windows, there are none.

The legally authorized reference for front windows is Extrême Clair 70 (the lightest tint we offer).

If you want to know more, we explain the regulations in detail in this article.

  • Are tinted window films pre-cut?

Yes, all tinted window kits are pre-cut and thermoformed to suit your car model.

Please note: some cut-outs are not supplied as standard: windshield wipers, mirrors, sun visors, etc... To obtain them, please specify them in the "comments" space just before confirming your order.

If you order by the linear meter, the film will not be pre-cut.

  • What is thermoforming used for?

Thermoforming makes it easier to apply the film to the glass. By thermoforming (i.e. "heating") a film, it is molded onto its substrate.

To recognize thermoformed film, you'll notice that it has a slightly "crumpled" appearance. Once installed, this effect will no longer be noticeable.

Thermoforming is carried out by us when you order a tinted window kit. If you buy tinted film by the linear meter, you'll have to do the thermoforming and cutting yourself.

  • I'm not sure which tinted window kit to choose: what should I do?

If you're not sure which model to choose, or if you need advice, please contact our sales department directly by filling in this form.

You will need to send photos of the vehicle concerned with the windows clearly visible.

  • How do I remove my tinted window film?

If you want (or need) to remove tinted window film, it's perfectly possible. Just follow the instructions in this article.

The secret: Materials, patience and attention to detail, just like when laying 😉

  • My vehicle model is not listed. How can I find it?

First, you can contact our sales department, indicating the make, model and year of the vehicle you're looking for. Sometimes we may have access to a kit not yet listed on the site.

Alternatively, you can order tinted window film by the cut here. Simply enter your glass dimensions in the configurator, or order by the linear meter and make the cuts yourself.
