  Our tinted window kits are designed so you can install them yourself. That's why they're pre-cut and thermoformed to fit your vehicle model. So you don't have to go to a professional 😉

• What is thermoforming used for?

  
  

  Thermoforming makes it easier to apply the film to the glass. By thermoforming (i.e. "heating") a film, it is molded onto its substrate.

  
  

  To recognize thermoformed film, you'll notice that it has a slightly "crumpled" appearance. Once installed, this effect will no longer be noticeable.

  
  

  Thermoforming is carried out by us when you order a tinted window kit. If you buy tinted film by the linear meter, you'll have to do the thermoforming and cutting yourself.

  
  

• I'm not sure which tinted window kit to choose: what should I do?

• My vehicle model is not listed. How can I find it?

  
  

  First, you can contact our sales department, indicating the make, model and year of the vehicle you're looking for. Sometimes we may have access to a kit not yet listed on the site.

  
  

  Alternatively, you can order tinted window film by the cut here. Simply enter your glass dimensions in the configurator, or order by the linear meter and make the cuts yourself.

  
  

• How do I apply the adhesive film from my tinted window kit to the silkscreen?

  Silk-screen printing refers to the black outline around certain vehicle windows, notably the rear window. It can create a slight relief that makes tinted films a little less attractive in these areas.

  
  

  To minimize the white effect around the silkscreen, one week after installation, press the silkscreen firmly with your thumb to seal the edges.

  If you've opted for electrostatic film, use the bonding gel included in your kit.

• Is it normal for the film in my tinted window kit to be too large?

  It is designed in this way to be inserted into the glass joint. This ensures a flawless finish and long-lasting durability. This is not a cutting error, but a necessary feature for quality installation.

• How do I install my tinted glass kit?

  We recommend a clean, sheltered spot.

  
  

  Every little bit of dust during installation can create a bubble. That's why it's essential to clean glass and surrounding areas (seals, door trim, etc.) thoroughly before installation!

  Handled in the open air, film is more fragile. That's why we recommend handling it with care. Once on the glass, it's easier to work with the film, pressing firmly with the trowel to apply it properly and avoid these inconveniences.

• How much does it cost to install a tinted glass kit?

  Our aim is to make installation accessible to everyone, via our many tutorials and tips. If you do it yourself, you save the cost of professional installation. It won't cost you anything, apart from time spent pampering your car 😉

  If you go to a professional, the cost of installing a tinted window kit will run you a few hundred euros. Each installer applies his own rates, but overall, the more surface area you have to tape, the more expensive it's going to be. This can range from €250 for the rear of a small car, to €650 or more for all the windows of a large SUV (just the installation, without the films).

• Are tinted windows legal?

  
  

  For front windows, there are regulations. For rear windows, there are none. 

  
  

  The legally authorized reference for front windows is Extrême Clair 70 (the lightest tint we offer).

• Are tinted window films pre-cut?

  When you opt for a tinted window kit Variance Auto, you have absolutely nothing to cut! We have a whole stock of vehicle templates, which enable us to know the dimensions of each glass. So when you tell us about your vehicle, we'll know how to cut and thermoform it.

  Once shipped, it will arrive tailor-made for your vehicle, ready to be fitted!

• How can I tint my car windows myself?
